Acne

The P Acnes Bacteria can be found residing in the sebaceous gland located in the Dermis. When the sebaceous gland secretes sebum to lubricate the skin, the bacteria can cause infection which causes acne to appear on the skin.

The yellow light from the Dual Yellow Light Laser destroys the P Acne bacteria and shrinks the sebaceous gland to reduce the production of sebum. The Dual Yellow Light Laser is the only type that targets the sebaceous gland by using photodynamic therapy to destroy the bacteria, without damaging the surrounding tissue. It does this by activating Proto Porphyrin 9 (PPIX) which exists in P Acne bacteria. PPIX is light sensitive at 578nm.
